Bellwether Phase 2 Development Concepts

Bellwether Phase 2

The Port of Bellingham is working with the Bellwether Gate LLC developers who have proposed a plan to build four or five new buildings in the remaining vacant spaces at Bellwether on the Bay. This transaction, which includes an 80-year land lease agreement is in negotiations and will need final Port Commission approval later this year.

Site Plan

Bellwether Gate LLC proposes building four to five new mixed use buildings that will be between three and four stories tall. The plan includes new public spaces and new trail connections.  This development, if approved would add 300 new parking spaces to Bellwether on the Bay, about two thirds of those spaces would be in an underground parking garage.

 Building Design Concepts

The architects involved in this project have worked to create a building design that will compliment the existing Bellwether buildings. Using some of the same materials, the developers plan to add some warmer colors to the new buildings. The top stories of the buildings may include between 10-40 residential units. The bottom floors would include shops, restaurants and service businesses. The image above is a conceptual design for the largest building, an 86,000 square foot, four-story building.
