"The park around the marina breakwater will be one of the few places on our waterfront where people can go and be surrounded by the waters of Bellingham Bay"
Mike Stoner--Port of Bellingham Environmental Director The new community marine park will include nearly a mile of public trails and scenic viewpoints along the waterfront. The wide breakwater around the marina facilities will be landscaped and reserved as a public park for people visiting the water. This new park presents opportunities to build art and cultural exhibits, interpretive signs, beaches for kayakers and swimmers, and access points for fishing and crabbing. The marina facilities will include a new public boat launch and transient moorage docks in the Whatcom Waterway. These facilities will be linked to downtown by a broad system of parks, trails, and roads so the central waterfront becomes a vibrant hub for people walking, paddling, biking, driving, sailing and cruising.
