Bellingham by Sea

Boaters have long been in love with Bellingham, an idyllic coastal community on the edge of the world famous San Juan islands.  As boaters round the beautiful and rugged Lummi Island, they begin to approach Bellingham's dramatic shoreline decorated with a coastal forest and honeycomb sandstone.  The snow-capped peak of 10,781 foot Mount Baker serves as a beacon for the safe confines of Squalicum Harbor, the Port's 1800 slip marina.

Bellingham is large enough to offer a full range of boating services and supplies, but small enough to offer plenty of tranquil cruising and a sense of community among the docks.  When completed, Bellingham's new downtown marina will add to the incredible array of modern services and facilities available to boaters.

Squalicum Harbor has 1,500 feet of guest moorage serviced with 20, 30 and 50 amp and 110/120 volt power and water.  Nearby are washrooms, showers, a laundry, a pumpout, a septic dump and two fuel docks.

Squalicum Harbor merchants offer a full range of services and supplies including fishing gear, marine wiring, sophisticated electronics, engine repair and replacement, canvas work and upholstery, and outboard sales and service.  Squalicum Harbor is also home to Seaview North, a full-service boatyard with a 150-ton Travelift which can handle all maintenance and service work on sail and powerboats up to 100 feet in length with a beam of 27-feet.

Hotel Bellwether on the Bay (Four Star rating in Best Places Northwest) has its own dock in Squalicum Harbor, and boaters also enjoy the close proximity of coffee shops, delis, restaurants and taverns, art galleries, marine supply stores, and retail stores.

The port's four-lane boat ramp is very popular and makes for a great launch site for the San Juan and Gulf islands.  There is a launch fee, but parking is free.
