Community Encouraged to Comment on the Port's Fairhaven Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements
[Bellingham, Wash.] Community members are welcome to take part in a public hearing Tuesday on the Port of Bellingham's update of its long-range plan for its Fairhaven properties. This plan update, the Fairhaven Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements has been underway for nearly two years and has included neighborhood and community meetings.
The port uses this long-range planning document to make decisions about land use, new developments and capital expenditures on port property in Fairhaven.
This updated plan, attempts to forecast potential development projects and other capital expenditures, as well as, potential land use changes for Port property in Fairhaven in the next 5 to 10 years.
The Port has scheduled a public hearing for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Harbor Center Building, located at 1801 Roeder Avenue, Bellingham, Washington to solicit public comment on the draft Fairhaven Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements.
The draft Fairhaven Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements may be viewed or downloaded on-line. A limited number of hard copies will be available at the hearing.
Countywide, the Port of Bellingham operates the Bellingham Airport, provides about 2,000 moorage slips and has about 250 businesses operating on Port properties. The Port of Bellingham is a countywide, independent, special-purpose government.
