Environmental Impact Statement
Environmental Impact Statement
An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a document that provides comprehensive information about a project's purpose and need, proposed plans, and potential environmental effects in areas such as wetlands and wildlife, noise and future traffic operations. Creating an EIS is required as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Before an EIS can become final, it must be released in draft form for the public to review, comment on and ask questions about.

The Port issued three environmental review documents under SEPA for public review and comment in support of the Waterfront District Redevelopment Project before issuing a Final Environmental Impact Statement in July 2010.  An Addendum to the Final EIS was issued in December 2012.
