[ARCHIVED] Fire at Squalicum Harbor, Public, Boat Owners Should Stay Away

The Port of Bellingham asks that the public and boat owners stay away the Squalicum Harbor area as firefighters work to contain a boathouse fire on East G dock of Gate 3. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but the boathouse appears to be a total loss.

About 10 boats have sustained major damage or are completely destroyed. The fire has been contained with fire department personnel remaining on scene to extinguish smoldering fires.

Access to the Gate 3, next to the Bellingham Yacht Club area of the marina is currently limited to emergency personnel. Boat owners in that area are asked to wait until fire fighting activity is complete before attempting to assess their property for damage.

The Bellingham Fire Department and Port of Bellingham are currently making attempts to confirm all persons that may have been living aboard vessels have been accounted for.
