Public Hearing on Port District Boundaries to be Held January 24

The Port’s Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on January 24, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at 1801 Roeder Avenue, Bellingham to receive public comment regarding the reaffirmation of the existing Port Commission districts.

The legislative districts for the three-member Port Commission previously matched those of the three Whatcom County Council legislative districts. With the increase to five County Council districts last year, the Port Commission will propose a Resolution on February 7, 2017 to reaffirm the same three voting boundaries as established before the change in Whatcom County Council districts.

The Port Commission is a non-partisan, three-person elected body that oversees all Port operations by providing policy direction and decisions in public meetings.  Currently, Port Commission District #1 is served by Dan Robbins, District #2 by Michael McAuley, and District #3 by Bobby Briscoe.  Port Commissioners serve four-year terms.
