The Portal Container Village is now open seven days a week with exciting new businesses, more events and an increased focus on arts and culture. Located on Bellingham’s downtown waterfront, The Portal offers a vibrant array of amenities and activities for visitors of all ages.
Kulshan Trackside anchors The Portal and is a “must visit” destination in Whatcom County with an all-ages beer garden overlooking a large Waterfront Bike Park. Trackside operates under the shadow of 85-foot tall Digester Tanks which served as the heart of one of the most productive pulp mills in the world and look like spacecraft from an early sci-fi movie. Trackside was named “Raddest Beer Garden in the Pacific Northwest” by Forbes magazine.
New to The Portal this year are Bin 13 Wine Bar and Zeeks Pizza along with additional retail space dedicated to showcasing the talent of local artists. Bin 13 will have an upper-level deck, providing an elevated experience for visitors to view the waterfront bike park, the Digester Tanks, the Acid Ball and other industrial icons preserved from Georgia Pacific’s former Pulp Mill. The Portal Putt miniature golf course is also adding a back nine.
It will be a busy summer in The Portal with the Northwest Tune-up, the Noisy Waters Mural Festival, the Shoestring Circus, the Wake and Shake Children’s Summer Series, Yoga on the lawn and much, much more. Kulshan Trackside hosts live music and many more fun filled events on their stage including a Hollywood Beer Prom on June 1st to benefit Lydia Place. The Port has signed ten-year leases with most of the tenants in The Portal and plans to expand the container village once again in 2025.
