After meeting with the bike park maintenance crew, the Port has decided to postpone the grand opening celebration originally scheduled for September 28th to allow enough time to repair unexpected erosion which occurred during the massive rain events over the past couple of weeks. The repairs are not difficult, but the track needs to dry out before it can be fixed. After repairs are made, the Port anticipates the bike park will remain open year round. However, similar to the Whatcom Falls pump track, riders will be encouraged not to ride when it is raining to avoid damaging the track. The bike park has been extremely popular in the short time it has been open and it's great to see so many young children and families down on the waterfront. Stay tuned to the Port's website and Facebook page for further updates.
