The 564-foot-long bulk carrier Ken Spirit is scheduled to arrive at the Bellingham Shipping Terminal on April 4 where it will be loaded with metal for export.
ABC Recycling is permanently shutting down operations on Bellingham’s waterfront. The Ken Spirit is one of two cargo vessels ABC will use to remove its stockpile of metal.
ILWU Longshoremen will load metal onto the Ken Spirit from 8 am to 3 am. Port staff will be on hand to enforce enhanced environmental protection protocols and stop work if necessary to protect water quality.
ABC Recycling has not scheduled their final cargo ship, but must remove all metal by June 30, 2024 or pay financial penalties.
The Port’s website will be updated when ABC’s last cargo vessel is scheduled. Community members can view ship schedules by visiting this link and sign up to get email or text notifications when the schedule is updated.
