Port Welcomes Innovative Pet Care Company to Property Near Bellingham International Airport

One of the Port’s newest tenants, Puget Hound, is open for business in the former Whatcom Humane Society building located near the Bellingham International Airport.  Puget Hound is a local pet care company offering Bellingham’s first “kennel-free” boarding facility with a 20,000+ square foot dog daycare “adventure park” complete with agility and playground equipment for dogs.

“We are excited to welcome Puget Hound to the Port of Bellingham” said Port Real Estate Director Shirley McFearin.  “Puget Hound has an excellent reputation among local pet owners and our airport customers will appreciate having a pet boarding facility located close to the airport.”

Unlike traditional boarding kennels, Puget Hound’s kennel-free boarding facility allows for “pet sleepovers” complete with constant staff supervision and more social interaction with both playmates and their caretakers. Puget Hound has some individual privacy suites for dogs which don’t get along well with others, but the majority of the building is dedicated to kennel-free boarding.

Puget Hound has five employees and anticipates hiring two or three additional employees to help staff their new facility.
