With a few days of sunshine, the Port's waterfront bike park has finally dried out enough to complete repairs and reopen this popular facility to the public. Picnic tables have also been added for the benefit of parents and spectators.
The Port partnered with Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition to develop a large pump track and single track sidewalk on an uneven gravel surface in the middle of the downtown waterfront
The bike park is intended to improve public access to the water and encourage the community to use the downtown waterfront as it gradually develops over time.
The bike park is located in an area which will eventually be developed into a large City park extending through the middle of the downtown waterfront. The timeline for building this permanent waterfront park has not been established and will depend on the pace of development, but will likely be at least 10 years.
