Port Commission Selects 2022 Officers, Sets Meeting Schedule

Port Commissioner Bobby Briscoe has been selected by the Commission to serve as President of the Board of Commissioners for 2022. Commissioner Ken Bell was chosen to be Vice President and Michael Shepard was selected for Secretary. 

Commissioners also determined who would serve on local boards for 2022:

Whatcom Council of Governments:  Bobby Briscoe

Washington Public Ports Association: Ken Bell

Whatcom County Economic Development Investment Program Committee: Ken Bell

Western Crossing (Shared Port and Western Washington University Development Entity): Michael Shepard

Regular Port Commission meeting times start at 4:00 p.m. in the Harbor Center Conference Room located at 1801 Roeder Avenue, Bellingham, WA unless posted otherwise.

To help avoid public gatherings as a result of COVID-19 precautions, participation in Port Commission meetings is offered using Zoom video conferencing. The 2022 Commission meeting schedule is as follows: January 4 and 18, February 1 and 15, March 1 and 15, April 5 and 19, May 3 and 17, June 7 and 21, July 12, August 9, September 6 and 20, October 4 and 18, November 1 and 15, and December 6.  

An essential part of the Board of Commissioners’ decision-making process is public input.  Two public comment periods are included as part of all regularly scheduled Commission meetings.  The Commission accepts public comment when Commission meetings start at 4:00 pm and at the end of the meeting. Written comments are always welcome and can be submitted by email to commissioners@portofbellingham.com or by mail to:
