The Port will be repairing three shoreline areas in Bellingham which were damaged during an extreme storm event over the next several weeks. Some of this work will occur at night when winter tides are the lowest and residents may notice construction noise and lighting.
Work will include armor rock removal and stockpiling, rubble removal, and rock re-placement along the identified shoreline areas, with some limited asphalt repairs at the Squalicum and Fairhaven locations. This work protects our shoreline areas against the continuous wave action and weathering.
Construction activities may be audible from the surrounding areas. Sounds may include truck and excavator traffic, back-up alarms, rock movement, and pavement sawcutting. Rock removal, rock stockpiling, rubble removal and rock re-placement will occur at night when winter tides are the lowest. As a result, light from mobile light plants may be visible in surrounding areas.
ESTIMATED DURATION OF WORK:
- Squalicum Location: October 22nd to November 4th
- Hilton Location: November 5th to November 14th
- Fairhaven Location: November 15th to November 30th
The Port appreciates your patience during construction as we work to repair our damaged shorelines. If you have any questions, please call Jennifer Allen, Project Manager, at 360-676-2500.
