The Port of Bellingham Board of Commissioners has approved an updated mission statement for the agency.
“The Port’s mission statement has not been changed in many years” said Port Executive Director Rob Fix. “The revised mission statement is succinct, to the point, and more accurately reflects the core mission of Port.”
The updated Port mission statement reads:
Promote sustainable economic development, optimize transportation gateways, and manage publicly owned land and facilities to benefit Whatcom County.
The Port of Bellingham was established in 1920. Throughout Whatcom County, the Port owns, operates and maintains approximately 1600 acres of property including a shipping terminal, a cruise terminal, two marinas, industrial development areas, commercial uplands, parklands, shoreline public access areas and an international airport.
